    Agate

    Named after the Achates River in Sicily, Agate has been used for over 3000 years. It is used to make rings, ornaments as well as seals and is a breed of chalcedony which is a type of Quartz. Agate is an archaic gemstone with unique patterns and lovely colors.

    Alexandrite

    Alexandrite is the rarest of all the colored gemstones. It is a variety of chrysoberyl dating back to the times of Imperial Russia. Named after Alexander II, a Russian Tsar, the gemstone was discovered by Finnish mineralist Nils Gustaf Nordenskiold. The gemstone is known for its Alexandrite effect, in which it changes its color under daylight and incandescent lighting.

          Species: the original source of alexandrite is from the Ural Region of Russia but recently it has been discovered in Brazil.

          Color: Hue Green color

          Clarity: Clear but once cut and polished they exhibit a vitreous luster.

    Amazonite

    Amazonite is a beautiful gem that is a type of mineral Microline. It is named after the Amazon River in Brazil. With the glassy shine and waxy texture, it was used to make beads, scarabs and amulets in the ancient times of Egypt.

          Species: It is a type of mineral called Microline. The green color is sought after and was named Amazonite. Other names include Peak Jade and Colorado Jade.

    Amber

    One of the few organic gemstones, amber is formed through fossilization or resin tree. Derived from the Middle Persian name Ambar, amber is usually confused with ambergris, which was used to produce fragrance. However, they both can easily be distinguished based on their densities with Amber being denser than ambergris.

    Aventurine

    With sparkly metallic inclusion, Aventurine belongs to the variety of Quartz. The glittery inclusions occur due to the presence of muscovite mica. The sparkling inclusions give a special effect to the gemstone due to which it is known to have an iridescent effect called aventurescence.

    Beryl
